GLIMPSES
10th Year Anniversary.

‘A look at our history through scene and song’

2017 promises to be a very special year for ‘Glimpses’. We are celebrating our tenth anniversary and our twice-weekly Summer performances have become so popular that we are now one of the top places in the Maritimes to visit. Our comfortable, 100 seat, air-conditioned theatre has welcomed way over 13000 guests during ’Glimpses’ first nine years, who have watched and thoroughly enjoyed this unique theatrical and musical performance.

According to TripAdvisor, we are the only theatrical performance across the whole of the Maritimes, that has received a solid 5 star rating from more than 100 contributors worldwide.

‘Glimpses’ is penned by members of the cast, and is a series of exciting and entertaining vignettes, suitable for all ages, depicting interesting events in the history of the area.

This original live theatre presentation has been described as the most entertaining local history lesson you’re ever likely to witness. In all, it is a thought provoking experience with many emotional ups and downs and is complemented by some very relevant slides.

Join us for a performance this year and witness for yourselves what all the fuss is about. The wonderful narration, action, music and singing, make it ‘not to be missed’ entertainment for the whole family. You won’t be disappointed.

The show will commence at the ‘Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic’, Lunenburg, on Tuesday July 4th with performances every Tuesday and Thursday evening through to September 7th.

Audiences are advised to get to the theatre early to make sure of a seat.

 ‘What an amazing story’

It’s hard for the cast and crew of the Summer Troupe to imagine that they are about to begin their eighth season of Glimpses. It seems such a short while ago that they were creating the first season of shows in 2008, not knowing if this series of historical based vignettes and music would appeal to visitors from across the globe or to the locals of Lunenburg County.

2008 was a tough start with many shows being performed to just a handful of people. Once during that first month of July they performed the whole show with just two people in the audience. However, things took a major turn toward the end of July as people got to hear of this new and rather unique production. Now performances in the ‘Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic’, Lunenburg, are regularly played to full houses and over 10,000 people from all over the world have experienced the appeal of Glimpses since its beginning.

Last year ‘Trip Advisor’ rated Glimpses the Number 1 THING TO DO in Lunenburg and the Number 2 THING TO DO in the whole of Nova Scotia, a true reflection of the shows appeal.

“If you miss Glimpses of Lunenburg, you obviously took a wrong turn”

(AB,  Halifax, NS)

Glimpses is without doubt unique. Penned by members of the cast, Glimpses is a series of exciting and entertaining vignettes, suitable for all ages, depicting interesting events in the history of the area. The original, historically based songs gel with the narration and acting to provide many humorous moments and also some times of serious reflection.

This original live theatre presentation has been described as the most entertaining local history lesson you’re ever likely to witness. In all, it is a thought provoking experience with many emotional ups and downs and is complemented by some very relevant slides.

Each year the cast and writers like to bring in some fresh material for their many regular audience members to enjoy. Their biggest dilemma is, which skits have to be replaced to make way for new ones. Glimpses eighth year promises to be another winner with two brand new skits and songs making their debut, plus two past skits and songs being re-introduced after a few years’ rest.

The 100 seat, air-conditioned theatre is extremely comfortable and the wonderful narration, action, music and singing, make it a ‘not to be missed’ entertainment for the whole family.

Glimpses has now become an integral part of visitors experience of Lunenburg County, but has also been enjoyed and supported by many local folk, which in itself is a huge testament to its popularity.

The Summer Troupe are also proud that they have donated thousands of dollars to local charities.

If you have yet to experience Glimpses, try to catch a performance this year and see for yourself what the Summer Troupe has to offer. You won’t be disappointed.

Why not join the Summer Troupe after the show every Tuesday for the jam session at the Icehouse Pub-just below the theatre on the 2nd floor of the museum. You can just listen or come up and sing. It’s always a blast!

Glimpses!
Our final performance is on 11th September.

Glimpses. 2014. 004

Many thanks for all those that have seen the show and have graciously helped us become TripAdvisor’s number one attraction in Lunenburg.  We are delighted to perform for our enthusiastic audience from all over the world.

Although we are thrilled that Glimpses has played to many full houses this year, we apologize to all those that have been turned away because of it. We can only allow 100 people into the theatre, so please get there early if you wish to see the show.

The performance starts at 7:30 every Tuesday and Thursday evening throughout the summer and we have been full by 7:05 twice this year.

The Allswell Productions Blog!

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to our new blog pages. We will be working to improve and up-date our site over the next few weeks and believe the blog will help us do this.

Jon Allen has been busy writing and work-shopping his latest play ‘Nothing Like a Quiet Weekend’ which will be making it’s theatre debut at the Pearl Theatre, Lunenburg in May 2011. More details will be available shortly.

Dave Brumwell has been doing likewise with the second production in the That Penis Thing series, entitled ‘The Second Coming’. However, this second show will not be hitting theatres until the spring of 2012 to make sure it’s every bit as good, if not better, than the first production. To compensate a little, there are a limited number of performances of the original show planned for spring 2011, so again, watch this space.

Jon and Dave have had another busy year with ‘The Summer Troupe’ and their production of ‘Glimpses’. This popular show, performed every Tuesday and Thursday evening in the Fisheries Museum, Lunenburg throughout the summer months, has once again broke all attendance records. If you haven’t managed to see this show, please look out for it next July when it will be commencing its fourth year.

Also the ‘Pirate Day’s’ activity in Mahone Bay took up a lot of their time, but was it ever worth it. Please check out the fabulous photo’s on the Pirate Bay blog page.

Many thanks for all your support over the years.
